Xavier Siméon zal volgend jaar aantreden in het FIM Enel MotoE kampioenschap. Het is het eerste jaar dat dit elektrische mono-merk kampioenschap verreden wordt in de schaduw van de MotoGP en kan dus een belangrijk jaar worden voor onze Belgische piloot.
Je kan er niet om heen: Siméon heeft een verschrikkelijk moeilijk jaar achter de rug. Op een verouderde Ducati bevond de Brusselaar zich steeds achteraan het pack en bij zijn team Reale Avintia werd al snel duidelijk dat er in 2019 geen stuur beschikbaar zou zijn.
Tijd dus voor verandering, en wat voor één. In een persbericht van zijn managementteam Zelos en een Engelstalig persbericht van zijn nieuwe team Esponsorama onderaan het artikel krijgen we meer uitleg over waarom hij koos voor de MotoE. Siméon zal volgend jaar aan het stuur van een volledig elektrische Energica tegen 17 andere piloten strijden om de allereerste E-wereldtitel.
De eerste testen zullen van start gaan eind november in Jerez en op 5 mei zullen we volgen jaar de eerste elektrische race te zien krijgen. In totaal gaat het om vijf manches: Jerez, Le Mans (19 mei), Sachsenring (7 juli), Spielberg (11 augustus) en tot slot Misano (15 september).

Zelos en Reale Avintia Racing kunnen met veel plezier aankondigen dat Xavier Siméon vanaf 2019 naar het gloednieuwe, elektrisch kampioenschap trekt dat gelanceerd werd door Dorna: de MotoE. Een nieuwe uitdaging voor de Zelos- en Classic 21-rijder, die zijn concurrenten eindelijk met gelijkwaardig materiaal zal kunnen bekampen.

Daarnaast blijft Zelos voort timmeren aan het programma van Xavier Siméon voor het seizoen 2019, dat zich niet zal beperken tot die ene categorie en zijn vijf GP’s.”

Esponsorama is pleased to announce their rider line-up for the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup in 2019. Xavier Simeon and Eric Granado will take part in the challenge for the first ever title in the history of motorcycling racing being contested with electric bikes, with five races on different European circuits next year and 18 riders competing with the same machines. After a year in MotoGP, this will be a completely new experience for Xavi Simeon. The 29-year-old Belgian rider, winner of the German Moto2 Grand Prix 2015, is enthusiastic about this next step in his racing career and he hopes to be competitive and to put up a fight from the first moment on. Eric Granado is the fastest and popular Brazilian rider and the 22 year-old has previous experience in the World Championship in Moto3 and Moto2 classes. He won the Moto2 European Championship in 2017 and now is racing in Brazil with Honda. Eric is known as a fierce fighter and there is no doubt that he will provide a spectacular show on the Energica Ego Corsa as well. At the end of November, the first official tests of this class will take place at the Jerez circuit. On May 5th, 2019, Jerez will also host the first of the five races in the MotoE calendar next year. Simeon and Granado will then move on to Le Mans Le Mans (May 19th), Sachsenring (July 7th), Spielberg (August 11th) and Misano (September 15th).é |
